Springfield@Sea Resort and Spa

Springfield Resort Pool Area

Guest Pool

Early this year we spent 3 weeks in Thailand and we stayed at the Springfield@Sea Resort and Spa for 6 days.  The resort situated about 20 minutes drive from the city of Hua Hin in Thailand in the suburb of Cha Am a part of the Chon Buri province.  Adjacent to the beach by the Gulf of Thailand it has been the best hotel I have stayed on many Thailand trips thus far.

My brother-in-law, who has written many articles for Thai Travel Magazines, recommended the resort to us and arranged our stay.  Originally we were only going to stay 3 days but we liked it so much we stayed another 3 days.

Pool Villa Beachfront Accommodation

Our first 3 days we stayed in a Pool Villa Beachfront which was directly opposite the beach and had its own private pool with an aquarium window, I don’t know if that’s the correct term but I am sure you know what I mean.

The villa was very spacious and well appointed and some thought had gone into the design and floor plan. The villa sleeps 2 couple’s one couple in luxurious comfort downstairs and the other in a modest alcove bed off the main living area, I think it was really a day bed and not meant for sleeping overnight.  The villa features 2 separate bathrooms so you don’t have to share.  The room is well suited to a small family of 4 with the parent’s area in the lower level.

The resort had only been open for about 2 years when we arrived and it certainly had that brand new car feeling. Staff were very friendly and polite and unobtrusive which I think is what you really want in a resort so you can relax and unwind. Wifi Internet was available but at a price in the Pool Villa Beachfront I don’t remember it being too expensive but it was free in our next room.

Buffet Breakfast Included

Our breakfast was included and it was the usual buffet breakfast you expect from a large resort in Thailand more than adequate to get you through to lunchtime.  We ate in one of the resort restaurants for one evening meal and it was quite good, I think I had steak and others had pizza and a salad everyone seemed to enjoy it.  The best food we found in Hua Hin city and will write more about it in a later post. My partner was very keen to have a massage from the day spa on the resort grounds; I have never had a massage mostly because I don’t like strangers touching me but after much haranguing I finally gave in and went with her.  After about 10 minutes into the full body massage I was fast asleep so yes I am a convert it was very relaxing and enjoyable.  Although the ritual foot washing before the massage proper did weird me out a little.

Resort Massage and Day Spa

The day spa appeared to be well appointed and the ambience with the low lighting and Asian style architecture was inviting but I must profess that being a simple Aussie male I don’t understand all the things they have on offer, I am sure it must be secret women’s business. The resort grounds and guest pool area were beautiful and we spent many hours each lounging around the pool.  There was plenty of seating around the pool and plenty of clean towels available.  The pool itself was very large and the spa seats, around the central fountain were very relaxing.

The hotel did not appear to be very busy although we were there in the February low season but I suspect the 20 minutes drive to Hua Hin may deter a lot of guests with many preferring to stay closer to the city action.  We had already spent a few days in Hua Hin city and did not mind the isolation and were happy to laze around the pool.

Hua Hin Growth

Hua Hin is certainly a growing city with many new developments underway including hotels, apartments and shopping centres.  It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from Bangkok and still not a touristy as Pataya or Phuket.

We are hoping to go back to Hua Hin in February 2014 and are looking forward to seeing the changes.
